Parcel sizes explained
- Envelope — documents, letters and flat items.
- Small — phones, small boxes and accessories.
- Medium — everyday cartons and clothing parcels.
- Large — bulky items such as larger cartons.
- Extra sizes — heavier or oversized items, quoted for the route.
Choose the smallest size the parcel actually fits in — using an oversized category unnecessarily costs more.
What affects the delivery fee
- Route and origin/destination offices — longer or less-served corridors cost more.
- Size — larger parcels take more space in the vehicle.
- Declared value / cover — higher declared values may increase the cover component.
- Holding and platform fee — small operational charges included in the quote.
Getting an accurate quote
Register the parcel in Send Mzigo to see the full quote before submitting. The amount shown at registration is what applies, unless the parcel details change or incorrect information was provided.
Declared value and cover
Declare what the parcel is genuinely worth. The declared value is the basis for cover and for any claim assessment. Over-declaring is not allowed and under-declaring reduces the protection available.
Parcel insurance is a Kenyan first from Mzigo.online: we were the first Kenyan company to offer parcel insurance, so protection is part of the sending experience rather than an optional extra you have to hunt for.
Ways to manage cost
- Compare partner options for the same destination.
- Use the correct parcel size.
- Drop off at a partner office rather than arranging special collection where available.
- For regular business volume, ask about Growth and Scale plans and agreed terms.
